The Beijing municipal(市政的) government has picked the 16 best places for enjoying red leaves(红叶) in the city, covering all the districts in the capital(首都). Autumn(秋天) is considered the best season in the capital, with great view of various(种类多样的) tree types. To provide a convenient(方便的) way for citizens(市民) to enjoy the views, the city government will put information for the parks online, with special attention given to areas with leaf color changes.

More than 2,000 students playing the erhu in a mass performance(表演) set a Guinness World Record on Saturday morning. The 2,024 students played the two-stringed(二弦) Chinese musical instrument(乐器) at a school in Hengshui, North China's Hebei province, setting a new Guinness World Record(吉尼斯世界纪录)for the largest number of erhu players in a performance, according to Luo Qiong, a certification officer for(认证官) Guinness World Records.

Hurun Report Inc on Monday released the Hurun Global Unicorn List 2019, a rank of the world's billion-dollar start-up(创业) companies, for the first time. The report found 494 unicorn(独角兽) companies across 118 cities in 24 countries. China's Ant Financial topped the list with a valuation(估价) of $150 billion, followed by China's ByteDance(字节跳动) and Didi Chuxing. According(根据) to the report, Beijing is where most of the world's unicorns are based(所在地), with a total of 82 unicorn companies. The city is followed by San Francisco(旧金山) and Shanghai. Rupert Hoogewerf(胡润), chairman of Hurun Report Inc, said at the ongoing(进行) World Internet Conference on Sunday that China's development of advanced(先进) technologies has made it the most popular destination(目的地) of choice for unicorn companies.

The world's oldest natural pearl has been discovered on an island off Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates(阿拉伯联合酋长国, UAE). The 8,000-year-old pearl was found during excavations(发掘) at Marawah Island which also revealed the earliest architecture in the UAE. Authorities said the discovery proved that pearls had been traded in the region since Neolithic times(新石器时代). The pearl will go on display later this month at the Louvre(卢浮宫) gallery, Abu Dhabi. "The discovery of the oldest pearl in the world in Abu Dhabi makes it clear that so much of our recent economic and cultural history has deep roots that stretch back to the dawn of prehistory(史前史)," said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, the chairman of Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism(文化旅游系).
