It was time for a haircut. Lenny didn’t even have to look in the mirror. Even though he was going bald, he knew that he needed to cut his hair every two weeks.
He had a “tongue” of hair on the top of his head. His hair was thinning at the crown. He still had plenty of hair on the sides and back. It was what they call “salt and pepper,” a mixture of gray hair and dark brown hair. It was only a few years, he figured, until the salt and pepper became just salt.
He never let his hair grow for more than two weeks. The longer it got, the worse it looked, he thought.
He spread a newspaper over the bathroom sink so that no hair went down the drain. He plugged in the clippers and started cutting his hair. He started at the back of his head, went to the sides, and finished on the top. Every minute or so, he had to clean the hair out of the blades with an old toothbrush.
Finished, he picked up a hand mirror to check out the back of his head. Everything looked okay. He carried the newspaper back out to the kitchen and shook the hair clippings into the trash can.
Then he took a shower.

What is most important is dealing with the hard times, coping with the changes, and getting through to the other side where the sun is still shining just for you.
It takes a strong person to deal with tough times and difficult choices. But you are a strong person.
It takes courage. But you possess the inner courage to see you through.
It takes being an active participant in your life. But you are in the driver’s seat, and you can determine the direction you want tomorrow to go in.
Hang in there... and take care to see that you don’t lose sight of the one thing that is constant, beautiful, and true:
Everything will be fine, and it will turn out that way because of the special kind of person you are.
So... beginning today and lasting a lifetime through-Hang in there, and don’t be afraid to feel like the morning sun is shining... just for you.

Are you reading anything interesting? asked Meg.
Only a story, said Jo.
Read it aloud, said Amy. It may amuse us.
Jo began to read very fast, and the girls listened.
It was a love story about two people called Viola and Angelo, and most of the characters died in the end. But the girls enjoyed it, and Meg even cried a little at the sad parts.
Who wrote it? asked Beth, watching Jo’s face.
Jo put down the newspaper. I did, she said, her eyes bright and shining.
You? said Meg, surprised.
It’s very good, said Amy.
I knew it! said Beth. She ran across and put her arms around her sister.
Oh, Jo, I am so proud!
And how proud Mrs March was when she was told.
Everyone began to speak at the same time. Tell us all about it.
How much did you get for it? What will Father say? Won’t Laurie laugh!
So Jo told them all about it, and that evening there was no happier or prouder family than the Marches.
